Coldplay frontman Chris Martin told the Daily Express that his band is planning to break up at the end of 2009, the NME reports. He told the paper, "I'm 31 now and I don't think that bands should
keep going past 33," he said. "So, we're trying to pack in as much as possible. Up until the end of next year, we'll just go for it in every
sense."
Music critics around the globe breathed a collective sigh of relief at the news. Of course, plenty of bands make promises like this and never live up to them (I'm looking at you, R.E.M.), so we'll see if this isn't a ploy to squeeze every penny they can out of their fanbase (another album, another tour) before the music industry completely implodes.
