"Life's worth living in Fort Smith, Arkansas" is a quote always being made by Mayor Baker for as long as I can remember. He's always talking about how he is the 'Hometown Hero.' RIGHT...

I can't find any interesting facts. Here are a couple: Greenville's economy was formerly based largely on textile manufacturing, and the city was once known as "The Textile Capital of the World." Peabo Bryson and Edwin Mccain are from here as well as Jesse Jackson( ).
Here's a site with daily photo updates of Greenville http://greenvilledailyphoto.com/

It extends both on the European (Thrace) and on the Asian (Anatolia) side of the Bosphorus, and is thereby the only metropolis in the world which is situated on two continents. |

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Smyrna,_Michigan
it says: According to postal regulations, the community was too near to Cooks Corners to have a separate office, but on his application for the office, Fisher had given section 32 as the location, just far enough to qualify for an office (even though it was over a mile away from the community. Fisher chose the name "Smyrna" for the office, reportedly because he wanted to ensure a unique name. In September 1853, Dickson platted the village as Mount Vernon, after Mount Vernon, Virginia, the home of the first U.S. President, George Washington. The village was also called "Mount Vernon Mills, but the post office was always Smyrna and that's actually the townships page, my actual hometown doesn't have one..i'm thinking about changing that! |

I no longer live there but this is where i grew up. Chatham, Ontario Canada, played a big part in the Underground Railroad, Just outside of Chatham, In Dresden Ontario, is the home of Uncle Toms Cabin, and we are also a very haunted town as well. I know that one for a fact. Fergie Jenkins, Michelle Wright, are a few famous people from Chatham. Fergie used to live down the stree from my grandparents. For people that don't know him, he was a huge major league bball player. Hall of Famer |

The Allen-Bradley Clock Tower in Milwaukee is listed in the Guinness World Records as the world's largest four-faced clock. Because the octagonal faces are nearly twice the size of the clocks in London's Big Ben, chimes were never added in order to allow Big Ben to remain the largest four-faced chiming clock in the world. America's Black Holocaust Museum located in Milwaukee, Wisconsin is the only memorial dedicated specifically to the victims of the enslavement of Africans in the United States. It was founded by James Cameron, America's last living survivor of a lynching (Cameron died in 2006).

Philadelphia (pronounced /ˌfɪləˈdɛlfiə/), commonly referred to as Philly but officially and formally The City of Philadelphia, is the largest city in Pennsylvania and the sixth most populous city in the United States. It is the fifth largest metropolitan area by population in the United States, the nation's fourth largest consumer media market as ranked by the Nielsen Media Research, and the 49th most populous city in the world. It is the county seat of Philadelphia County. A popular nickname for Philadelphia is The City of Brotherly Love (from Greek: Φιλαδέλφεια, [pʰi.la.ˈdel.pʰeː.a], Modern Greek: [fi.la'ðɛl.fi.a], "brotherly love" from philos, "love", and adelphos "brother"). The city is recognized as a strong candidate global city. In 2005, the population of the city proper was estimated to be over 1.4 million,[1] while the Greater Philadelphia metropolitan area, with a population of 5.8 million, was the fifth-largest in the United States. A commercial, educational, and cultural center, the city was once the second-largest in the British Empire,[2] (after London) and the social and geographical center of the original 13 American colonies. During the 18th century, it eclipsed New York City in political and social importance, with Benjamin Franklin taking a large role in Philadelphia's early rise to prominence. It was in this city that some of the ideas, and subsequent actions, gave birth to the American Revolution and American independence, making Philadelphia a centerpiece of early American history. It was the most populous city of the young United States and served as the the nation's first capital in 1774. |

Yarmouth, NS
The townsite may possibly have been visited by Leif Erikson and his Norsemen in 1007. A Runic Stone was found at the nearby village of Overton in 1812. It is interpreted by some to be carved by Erikkson, while others feel the markings are natural scratches gradually enhanced over the years. The stone may be seen at the Yarmouth County Museum & Archives. That's all I got |
