Please don't show up unnounced to have lunch with your child and expect to have a mini conference with your child's teacher at the lunch table.
Especially when it is clear that the teacher is trying to supervise students and eat their lunch in the whole 10 minutes they get to sit down. It will annoy
your child's teacher!

As a parent, I think the whole idea of going to school to have lunch with your child is really fucked up! I don't get it. I don't think they should
even allow it.

how embarassing for the kid, I say, I know my kids would have been mortified if I ever showed up at school. I did it at Halloween once dressed up to BRING my
kid lunch and she freaked on me, I think i scarred her for life.!!
That i can say was one of my most embarassing moments as a parent. |

Well, I am a kindergarten teacher. So, the kid wasn't embarassed or anything.

I used to love it when my parents would come in and have lunch with me. However, they never tried to speak to my teachers in that time. That would be annoying.
Make an appointment for after school if you need to speak to the teacher!

I just feel like that is their time to socialize with their frineds. I just get touchy about it because their are a lot of parents at my kids' school that
literally go in on an almost daily basis and do it and I just feel so bad for their kids.

I think it is ok every once in awhile when approved/announced/scheduled.

Can add another PSA:
If you know your child has a medical condition that could require immediate medical attention, please notify the teacher, principal, and school nurse. Do not just drop off your little one that is prone to seizures, frequent falling attacks, and poor eye sight without ANY information about their health, daily medications, or list of allergies. *happened to my mom, a kindergarten teacher* |

To say the least it is VERY neglectful. The school social worker looked up the registration information and found that a lot of the info is incorrect. They
have been trying to call the mother, but she has not returned ANY of the phonecalls.
There is a scheduled meeting tomorrow with the mother, we'll see if she shows up. They will definitely call CPS if she doesn't. |

Pura, so it was one kindergarten child that had all those issues you mentioned (seizures, falling, poor eyesight)? Yeah, if she doesn't show up to the mtg,
I'd definitely contact CPS.

Yes, JulieAnne. My mom says she's the sweetest little girl, but she cannot walk a few steps without falling, she is prone to seizures and has very poor
eyesight.
During meet the parent day, my mom had all the parents fill out basic contact info sheet. Turns out the little girl's mother, left quickly without filling the form. The school also has the wrong info. She spoke with the principal, social worker and school nurse - the girl has been placed in a school better suited for her needs, but have to talk to the mother first. They haven't been able to reach her. |

Ugh. Well, I hope they get that solved so the little girl can be in the place that's best for her. That makes me sad. It's good that your mom and the
other adults in her life are stepping up to the plate, and trying to work on things.

embarassing!
