A little while ago I saw her rub her butt on the carpet for a second. I really hope she doesn't but I have a feeling she does. I had no idea a strictly
indoor cat could get worms but I Googled it and apparently they can. I guess it's a good thing I already had an appointment for her at the vet. I had
wanted to make sure she was all set on her shots and such. I guess I can just ask them to check for worms as well when I bring her in. Or should I call the
night before and tell them that I need them to check for that?
Just great. I think my cat has worms

Um...my cat did that for years...I never thought it meant anything. It meant she had worms??

You can let them know to check if you want. You could bring in a sample of her poop and they could look for worms. they can also give her some medication to
deworm her, depending on the type of worms she has.
But yeah, it could be something other than worms too. |

Well, I'm pretty sure it's one of the signs that they have worms. Cause it makes them itch.

Uh, stupid question but when bringing in a samples....what do I bring it in? Like a plastic sandwich bag? or what?

Yeah you could just bring it in a ziplock bag or something like that. it doesn't matter. it will cost money to have a fecal float done but I have no idea
how much an individual clinic would charge. Maybe it is part of their vaccine/health check package? I'd just call and ask.

It could be a sign of worms, but it doesn't mean it definitely has them. My old roommate's cat would do that all the time, but he just had irritable
bowel and I think his bunghole got itchy!

Damn, I never took stool samples of my dog. They just put a stick up his butt right there

How old is the cat (kittens can get worms from mom)? Has it been dewormed before? Could it be catching mice or anything (tapeworms)?
Anyway, may as well let the vet do their thing. Hopefully she just had an itchy bum! Sometimes my cat rubs her bum if she has a little piece of poop stuck in the hair. |
