I flove this story. My bil and sil just moved to Houston and the only thing that she was excited about was going to this guys church or stadium or whatever.

Well...HE isn't claiming the case is about money. Those are the attorney's arguments.
I had never seen what his wife looks like, but she just screams bitch looking at her. However, no matter how nasty or rude a person is, it is not okay to exploit that for money. If you sue someone for 10% of their net worth, and you know how much these people are worth...uh, yeah, it's about the money. If you go in asking that they cover your expenses, ect ect. Then you might be able to pull off the idea that it's not about money. But when you go into the case asking for a boat full of money...it speaks for itself. I am curious to see how what the plaintiff is asking for pans out because the recovery for tort actions in Texas have changed and they cap how much you can recover almost to the point where people don't and can't file a claim because it isn't worth it to the attorney to take the case when they aren't going to get paid much of anything. |

I live in Houston so I get to hear about these people all the time. I used to work within walking distance of Lakewood Church (formerly the Summit, a sports
and concert stadium). One time I decided to question his sincerity, lifestyle, message, and the way his church spends money to a local message board (all
people who live in or around Houston) and they went ape shit. It was like a big red button that nobody but me dared push.
One of the local news stations here was doing a piece on him practically every week. JOEL OSTEEN GOES TO EUROPE, JOEL OSTEEN GOES TO CAMP, JOEL OSTEEN WROTE A NEW BOOK. I stopped watching that station for the most part. They wouldn't even ask him interesting questions. It was a big circle jerk. At least 60 Minutes pressed him some. Fuck that guy. |
