The fertile window is like week 2, correct? I'm so bad at this stuff, even though I did take parenting. And I know that it's not going to happen to everyone, but I feel like I've been hearing a lot of these, "I've gotten pregnant on BC" stories recently.

Some people have them while on something, others don't. I'm on Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo and have no side effects and it's working great for me. It's not designed to help with my acne problem but it does help some. My doctor gave me samples of 2 kinds to try, the Ortho or another kind. I forget what it was called but it's the chewable BC pill. I knew no one on that one nor could I really find anyone online that was on it so I went with the Ortho because well, my mom had a good history with it and when it comes to female problems and periods, we're on the same level. But at the same time I know people who had horrible side effects with it so they switched to something else. But anyways, if it matters any, I have a friend on Yaz. She says it's the best one she's ever been on. It controls her periods better, they're not really random, and they're really light. But it's not a fluke. The low estrogen is what makes some women more suspectible to getting pregnant on it. If a person has challenged, not very "reproductive" ovaries, then it works fine. But if you have normal or "over-reproductive", then your chances of conceiving while on it are going to be much higher. Again, I'm not trying to scare anyone, but I think it's important to be aware. Women in my family history don't normally have a history of reproductive issues and I'm not trying to get pregnant so I had no idea if I was reproductively challenged or not. I wish I had done more research about Lo PRIOR to taking it, because I would have definitely taken something else. Could've, should've, would've!

Oh and my mom had no problem getting pregnant with me or my brother. They thought that she would, so they told her to get started early, but she ended up getting pregnant ASAP, much to her and my dad's chagrin But they love me anyway

I like the idea is suppresses appetite. Jenna, that's good to hear. My periods are SO horrible when I'm not on BC. I have extreme bloating, I vomit, and the cramps make me want to crawl up in a fetal position and die.

I got my fucking period and I have another week until I start my placebos. I was irregular before I got on the pill, but now my system is just completely fucked.

I've had it for 2 years and my periods are almost gone. I spot maybe 2 days a month. No more cramps or heavy bleeding. I freaking love this thing. The great thing is that when we're ready to have another baby, the doctor can take it out during an office visit. It's fairly cheap. I only paid $30 after my insurance took care of their part. If you don't have insurance I think it's only $130 or something.

I know it's 2 weeks but I also knew it was more specific and I couldn't remember what the specifics were, so I looked it up. The length of the follicular phase - and consequently the length of the menstrual cycle - may vary widely. The luteal phase, however, almost always takes the same number of days for each woman: Some women have a luteal phase of 10 days, others 16 days, while the average is 14 days. Normal sperm life inside a woman ranges from 1-5 days, though a pregnancy resulting from sperm life of 8 days has been documented.^[8]^[9]^[10] The most fertile period (the time with the highest likelihood of pregnancy resulting from sexual intercourse) covers the time from some 5 days before ovulation until 1-2 days after ovulation. In an average 28 day cycle with a 14-day luteal phase, this corresponds to the second and the beginning of the third week of the cycle. So it happened in the 1-2 day period AFTER ovulating.

If I do get pregnant on it (or any BC for that matter if I ever switch), me and him will take care of the situation at that time. We had a discussion long before I went on it and he's not going to abandon me. Neither of us would want the child but he's not going to leave me high and dry and make me do everything myself and pay for everything myself (like my friend's ex did to her). And besides, nothing is 100% anyways besides not doing it.

It's so enjoyable. Thanks for that little blurb. Now is it after the period ends that's when the cycle starts? Or when the period first begins? lol Because My period ended on like Thursday/Friday. And I had sex both Sat and Sunday. So am I in a bad time?

It depends on the position, but other than that I don't notice it. I haven't had any weight gain at all either. The only thing is at the beginning they say you will bleed for a couple of weeks and on occasion there have been some who bleed longer. I bled for 2 freaking months. But then again, I just had my second daughter, also.

Also, I just noticed this: If a woman wants to conceive, the most fertile time occurs between 19 and 10 days prior to the expected menses.

I sometimes forget other things exist besides the pill, Depo and Nuva. What is Desogen? I haven't read through the thread so I don't know if your questions were answered. The patch is pretty simple, you just stick it on one the day you start your period and change it every week on that same day. On the 4th week, period week, you don't put anything on, then just start again the following week. I liked it because sometimes I'd forget to take my pills at the same time, with the patch you only have to remember it once a week and since it's visible you can't forget. The cons are that my skin under the patch would get really dry, so I'd have to switch the spots up often. Also it's has a higher risk in blood clots, so if you have that problem it's not recommended. Desogen is a type of BC pill. My doctor originally switched me to Yaz when I told her that I didn't want to be on the patch anymore, but then I told her about my issues with my previous pills OTC Lo and Cyclessa and how they killed my sex drive and all that, she changed it from Yaz to Desogen.
