Du Juan is my favorite model of the moment, I love her look. She has done a lot of high profile fashion shows and got ad campaigns from Gap, J. Crew and Louis
Vuitton. I like the fact that she's Chinese and she doesn't have to have large eyes to be considered beautiful or doll-like, like so many other cutesy
Asian celebrities. She's very refreshing, enjoy!

I love her eye makeup in the 4th last one and I also like how her eyes are like mine - a crease in one eye and no crease in the other, I don't feel so
different now.

HanhChick i understand ur appreciaiton for hyepark and dujuan...
but heres my 2cents I HATE that Hye Park and DuJuan are the only asian models who had success in the west its almost as if the western agencies said "okay we are going to go and look for the asian models who represents the most to us what asians are supposed to look like" and being that most of the power figures in the west are non-asians u can see why that would be problematic. hye park and dujuan are such extremes of that 'stereotypical perception' and their popularity seems only to serve as an artistic contrast to the other "Top models" it would be like if asia had all those big eyed dolly looking asian models and then decided "ok we need one or two token white models so were gona look for the woman with the most palest complexion, longest overprojected beak like nose, and thinnest lips possible and thats what were going to decide is 'white' beauty" the fashion industry using hye park and dujuan is by no means a celebratory matter in my opinion.

yeah, i dont think these models would be successful in Asia just because they do have very stereotypical asian features. I think Du Juan looks the best out of
all these girls though...she has a much more softer look.

Yeah I understand what you're saying Gisele, Hye and Du do reinforce that stereotype, but what if there are other girls that look like them in China with
the smaller eyes and see that "hey, they look like me and are considered beautiful." they're relate to them... There should be more Asian models
that doesn't represent the stereotypical Asian features, but than again other Asians should embrace those features and not see them as average. It's
nice to see your point of view by the way =]
Madelyn06, Du and Hye have been on the covers of their respectable country's Vogue...but than again, they are the lucky few with stereotypical features that have success. |

representation...thats why its so important that the one or two minorites that ARE given a platform to be seen should be one that doesnt reinforce or
perpetuate the western stereotype of the east.
