Bank of America - Debit/Holds??

Posts: 74 (08/14/2008 11:05 PM) Reply Quote More Recent Posts Message Friend Block Invite Ignore	So, I went to check my bank account and there is a Debit/Hold on my account in the amount of $144.95, and I have not used my debit card since the 11th. I'm completely pissed, and confused! Of course I discover it after their customer service is closed and now get to sit here and be pissed all night. Has anyone else had this happen to them? Why did it happen and what the heck do I do to fix it? I've already sent an e-mail message, but ugh, patience is not my friend right now. And, no. I have not gotten gas lately.

It says it's a "Debit/Hold on 8/14" and that it was requested through me going to the bank, or through a customer service representative. And it's not concerning any type of overdraft as there are plenty of funds in there. I'm just stressed.

My last amount that I spent on my bank account is $9.50 from a mailing supplies store when I went to send some faxes. That amount has already cleared and everything. This hold just randomly appeared today.

No worries I'm sure it will be worked out even if they can't release the hold they can tell you where it's from (name of the company).

I have always had a portion of my deposit immediately available and the rest held. I guess that's an option. I did make a deposit yesterday. It was half a deposit and half a withdraw from a Paycheck. But the 'Hold' they have on the account is for some random amount. It's not even half of the deposit or withdraw. Thanks for all the advice everyone. I guess I will just hope it gets released soon. I'll be busy tomorrow trying to figure out where it came from and a way to get my money back!

My coworkers account had a $600 hold on it one day - turned out that his mom had deposited a check and since her name was also on his account - the hold could come from any account she had with the bank until the check cleared and it happened to come from his.
