My grandma is in a nursing home for rehab.. she is coming home Sunday for good. (she lives with my Aunt) My Aunt works as an at home aid for elderly. She works Mon-Fri 9-1. It takes her an hour to get to her client. So 20 hours she works plus the 10 hours of driving. So 30 hours. Well since she now works she needs an aid to take care of my grandma. They're only willing to give her 20 hours.. So.. She asked the agency if she could work as the aid at HER OWN HOUSE. So she wanted to get paid to take care of her own mother. LOL... Please tell me I'm not the only one who sees humor in this.
Wow my Aunt is such a stupid bitch.

Okay here is the situation:

I don't really see the problem. She needs to work to pay bills, I assume....and she needs someone to take care of her mother....so it seems like the
perfect situation to me.

Um. Well. My grandma gets a check every month and my aunt spends it. Also, she never worked the WHOLE fucking time my grandma lived with her.. now that she got
sick she started working. Its really fucking annoying.

Well, there is probably more going on within your family than just this. But if there was a situation in our family like that, I would feel better about a
family member taking care of my grandmother. And if the family member had to work to pay bills, it would be a win-win situation. But since you have extenuating
circumstances I can understand why you would be upset.

So you don't want her getting paid to take care of your grandma because she already spends your grandma's monthly check right? Like, if that wasn't
the case, would you be okay with her getting paid? Like if she had to pay bills and all and that was her source of income.

No, My grandma has been living with her for over 20+ years. Over the last 3 years my grandma stopped working and has went downhill. (healthwise) She works as
an aid for the past like 6 months. She wasnt working when my grandma was healthy and my grandma was working. She just suddenly started working now. She doesnt
NEED the money, she does it because she makes a good money for not doing much.
I feel like if she was there when my grandma was good and gave her lots of money.. now that she ISNT working and NEEDS the support and care.. she isnt there. When you are a caretaker you are there for the long run, not for taking what you can get then leaving when the times get hard. I font feel she should be paid to care for her OWN mother. |

Okay, I get it now. But when you first explained it, it was kinda hard to see why you wouldn't want someone who knew your grandma to take care of her.
Obviously I wouldn't want someone who I didn't think was going to be there for the long haul getting paid to take care of her either.

Well my aunt got it past the department of aging. Ugh. Well she'll be taking advantage of it.. going wherever she wants during those hours and getting paid
for milage. So fucking stupid.

i don't see the problem. her mother would still be paying for the service, and she'd still be getting paid for her job. there'd be no extra money,
but that would her problem. it might even make more sense to just quit her job and take care of her mom full time.

I don't really think it is right to judge her. She is caring for your grandmother. Who else in the family is doing that or contributing financially to her
expenses?

My friend gets paid to take care of his mother because she's disabled. I don't think it's that strange. It doesn't cost the agency any more.
