I have a question.
Is an antipruritic a drug classification? I'm making drug cards and I'm on Benzocaine.. isn't it classified as an antipruritic or am I totally fucking this up? |

I'm not a med student or anything, but yeah, Benzocaine is an antipruritic.

I'm a vet student, not a med student, but I was going to say that benzocaine was a local anesthetic. I guess it's anti-itch because it numbs the area?

Davis' drug guide for nurses just says local/topical anesthetic. It's theraputic effects are: local anesthesia c subsequent loss of sensation or
relief of pain and/or pruritus.
