I'm very interested in breastfeeding. What did you do to be ready for this? I'm going to have a lactating nurse help me out when my baby is born but
I heard that there are different ways to prepare yourself for breastfeeding. There are a lot of mommies here so give me some helpful tips.

I got a mental image of a 25 year old JJBing while she's latched on.

This is your best friend!!!
http://www.target.com/Lansinoh-Laboratories-Breast-Creme/dp/B000067DYG/sr=1-4/qid=1218587665/ref=sr_1_4/602-7425358-8455033?ie=UTF8&rh=k%3Alansinoh&page=1 Put it on right after you breast feed EVERY TIME!! Start using it prior to even having the baby to prepare yourself. It was the best thing I ever discovered during that time and it will make your life and the whole breastfeeding experience so much more comfortable for you! |

I heard a number of mothers that their nipples were bleeding from the nursing. Has any mothers here who have breastfed had that sort of problem?

I'm not obviously but I think having a visit with a lactation consultant is a great idea. My best friend was about ready to give up after 2 weeks, but her
mother got her a lactation consultant and it turned out her daughter was just latching completely incorrectly. She ended up nursing for 9 months and never
would have lasted that long w/o help and support.

Yea, the lansinoh breast creme is the best...also, get yourself some gerber hot/cold packs for the engorgement...it will not feel too nice while your milk is
regulating to the baby.
hmm, also, get a good pump, a medela if you can afford it. |

Does your hospital offer a BFing class? I'm taking the class in 2 weeks. My husband's coworker delivered at the same hospital as us and said it was the
most beneficial class she took, even moreso than childbirth classes.

that one as a gift for my babyshower this weekend. Does your hospital offer a BFing class? I'm taking the class in 2 weeks. I was gonna go to some myself. I can't believe none of my cousins or my older sister has never breastfeed. This is why I'm so clueless about it. |
