I was on vacation for a week, I found this store there that sold dippin' dots. I've wanted them ever since I got them from a baseball game here a couple years ago but could never find them. I went to the store there and bought like 10 packs of them and just that.

BTW, those things are fucking expensive. A little pack cost 4 bucks.

I also used to live in the city and would sometimes see people using food stamps or EBT (I am not really sure what the term is) and buy stuff like individual pop cans, snack foods and I would wonder why they wouldn't buy things like eggs, milk, produce, etc which would actually be cheaper and more nutritious than expensive snack foods and individual pop cans.

Yeah, healthy foods are generally not cheaper than junk foods. That's probably why...

LOL funny story... this happened like a month ago:

my boyfriend and i just moved to a new apartment and he clogged the toilet, and we did not have a plunger. so i had to pee bad and was irritated so he went to the store to get a plunger. well, since i was inconvenienced (and he is sweet) he got me flowers, too. at the checkout, all the ppl behind him were snickering and the checkout lady as well so he just goes "it's EXACTLY what it looks like." and they all started...

I have never heard of people checking out what other people are buying in the grocery store. I can't believe people actually do that.

Anyway, I don't buy junk food anymore, but even when I did, I was never embarrassed by it. I'm not embarrassed about anything I buy. Cover all of my shopping costs for me and then maybe I'll actually give a shit about what you think.iloveblueberries1979 wrote:

The only time I have hidden things in my cart or on the register was when I was younger and buying tampons.

I do sometimes get some looks when I buy things for my class (fruit snacks or like bags of air heads, things like that). I will usually ask to have that stuff put in separate bags and I get another wth? look, I will just say it goes to my classroom. That usually shuts them up.

I AM conscious of what I'm putting into my cart and also what other people have in theirs. I tend to think Americans on the whole have a pretty poor diet and I try not to buy more than 1 junkfood item at a time.

Yes, so sometimes I take some stuff that I don't really need before checking out. But I would also go back the next week or after to buy what I previously didn't buy.

And I also look at what other people buy and I would judge if someone who was big/fat would fill their carts with lots of junk.

Does that happen to anyone else? I find myself putting a package of chocolate donuts underneath a magazine, or putting all of the produce and low-fat milk on the back of the belt so that the people in line behind me don't think I eat like a pig.

I don't look at the belt when other people have their groceries on there, so in theory I could pretend that they aren't looking at mine, but ...
